The Cast

Michael Paré, probably best known for his role as 'Eddie' in "Eddie and the Cruisers" plays Bill, Birdee's errant husband. Although Bill could be seen as the antagonist, Pare doesn't look at it that way. "My question when I first looked at the role was, 'Am I supposed to be a terrible guy who drops his wife for her best friend?' But the more I probed, the more it appeared that Bill was a victim of love. He is guilty of falling in love; he didn't want to happen, it just did."
The characters of Ramona, Justin, Bernice and Bill all revolve around the story's center " Birdee " from whose eyes the story unfolds. Feeling that her life has no value since her husband left her, "Birdee has taken a blow to her heart, to her gut and to her soul," says Bullock. "She has defined herself entirely by men her whole life and later by her motherhood. When Bill leaves she doesn't know who she is anymore. She decides to go back home because she has no place left to go."
