For The "General and I Went Down," Gleeson won the Boston Film Critics Award for Best Actor of the Year, and the 1998 London Film Critics Award for Best Actor in The British Isles for "The General."
Additional credits include Neil Jordan's "The Butcher Boy and Michael Collins," Jim Sheridan's "The Field," Michael Winterbottom's "Love Lies Bleeding" and Stephen Frear's "The Snapper."
Gleeson continues to live in Ireland and will soon be seen as the lead in Stephen Bradley's feature film "Sweety Barrett."
