More than a decade ago, Marshall made his directorial debut with "Young Doctors in Love." Among his many film directing credits are "Pretty Woman," "Frankie and Johnny," "Beaches," "Overboard," "Nothing in Common," "The Flamingo Kid," "Exit to Eden," "Dear God" and the recent "The Other Sister," starring Diane Keaton, Juliette Lewis and Giovanni Ribisi. A Bronx, New York, native and a Northwestern University journalism graduate, Marshall has also created and executive produced some of the longest running and most celebrated sitcoms in American television history, including "Happy Days," "Laverne & Shirley," "The Odd Couple" and "Mork and Mindy." A recipient of numerous awards, in November, 1997, Marshall was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Television Academy Hall of Fame. In between projects he had a recurring role as Stan Lansing, head of a fictional television network on the "Murphy Brown" television series. His other notable acting turns were a casino owner in the film "Lost in America," head of the network in "Soapdish," team owner, Mr. Harvey, in "A League of Their Own," and "Twilight of the Golds" with Faye Dunaway. |
