John Pankow
JOHN PANKOW (Vince McBride) has earned both critical and audience acclaim for his stage, film and television work.
Best known to television audiences for his role as 'Cousin Ira' on the popular comedy series "Mad About You," Pankow frequently returns to the theatre during his summer hiatus from the show.
Following the series' first season, he performed in the drama "Someone Who'll Watch Over Me" at the Abbey Theater in Dublin, and following the show's second season, he participated in the Sundance June Film Lab. At the end of the 1996 season, Pankow appeared in the highly acclaimed production of Shakespeare's "The Tempest" in Central Park. Most recently, he co-starred off-Broadway in "Baby Anger," a new play by Peter Hedges.
Pankow was born in St. Louis and raised in Chicago. After three years at Northeastern Illinois University, where he majored in theatre arts, Pankow was accepted to the St. Nicholas Theatre's School of Performing Arts, a two year program. He was invited to join the resident repertory company and made his professional debut in "Curse of an Aching Heart," directed by Gerald Gutierrez.
Soon after arriving in New York, Pankow landed the role of Mozart in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of "Amadeus" at the Broadhurst Theatre, and later toured with the show in Boston, Philadelphia and Detroit.
He made his motion picture debut in "To Live and Die in L.A.," followed by "The Secret of My Success," "Monkey Shines," "Talk Radio," "Mortal Thoughts" and "A Stranger Among Us."
